Job Opportunity: Intern
Looking for a great public relations internship where you get to do a little bit of everything? We work with a variety of clients including arts organizations, non-profits and corporations. Some of our work includes media relations, event planning, creating social media strategies and writing marketing materials. At Scott Circle Communications, there is always an opportunity to work on a variety of high profile and fun projects.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with writing press releases, media advisories, proposals and memos
- Assist with event planning activities including staffing events, working with caterers, printers and other vendors
- Contribute to social media campaigns – including writing Facebook updates, Tweets and advising on other uses of social media.
- Participate in brainstorming meetings.
- Research, update and create press contact lists
- Research projects
- Various administrative duties
Requirements:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Facebook, Twitter and general Internet and e-mail. Graphic design a plus, but not necessary
- Ability to handle multiple projects at once
- Excellent communications skills (written, verbal and interpersonal)
- Must be organized, self-starter, detail oriented, motivated and able to “hit the ground running”
- Past event planning and/or public relations experience a plus, but not necessary.
- Interest in current events, news media, social media and event planning.
Etc.:
- Must be able to work 20-30 hours/week and be available during the hours of 9 – 5 p.m., Monday - Friday.
- Compensation: TBD, based on experience. Employee will be paid as a contractor.
- If needed, Scott Circle Communications will work with employee to ensure credit for school is earned.
